The Latest Scams
A citizen was attempting to sale an item on CraigsList. They were contacted by a potential buyer and arrangements were made for the transaction.
The buyer sent a check that was for much more than what the seller was asking with instructions to send the remaining balance to another person. The check was
returned back to the bank as being invalid. The buyer was then contacted and 3 United States Postal Service Money Orders were sent with the amount of each check
being $925 including further instructions of what to do with the remaining balance. These checks were deemed to be counterfeit.
Citizens should be cautious whenever they receive an unsolicited check or receive an exorbiant amount of funds when attempting to conduct a legitimate
transaction as mentioned. Financial instituions can hold you libel for the funds if you were to cash to check.
Census 2010
Census workers will be in the area beginning April 30 going to the residences of those who did not mail in a census form. Each temporary census employee
will have an official identification card with the employee's signature and an expiration date (no picture) and it should be visibly displayed.
Please contact your local law enforcement agency if you have questions.
